Presence.

What is it? There are various interpretations for it in many spiritual texts.. I have read about it over and over again and have sat with it through my meditations. It has never failed to amaze me, excite me and to a great deal transform me..

Its all in the NOW. We know this. Its again textbook knowledge to attain spiritual enlightenment. No, but literally, this presence is in the now. You can feel it, when you bring your attention to it. Its like this flame around your, that surrounds you. A cold flame that is tingly and vibrant. ANYONE can sense it ANYTIME.

It is always there, you can not think about it, but you can feel it. When you sort of feel it, stay with it.. And it will grow bigger. And if you can let go of all the thoughts that possess you from one moment to the next, there will be a dropping; like dropping from a rope swing into the water, a splash and you will drop into an openness. An engulfing openness. But as soon as you try to hold on to it, its gone, its another thought that comes in your way.

Talking about thoughts, they are bound to be there. There is no shutting of the mind as the mind really never shuts, just like the heart never stops pumping. So it boils down to your attention. On what you focus your attention on. When we give attention to thought, we identify and become thoughts. When we give attention to presence, we create a gap in thoughts that lets us glimpse into something else.. Decide and commit to give your attention to this presence, and not to thoughts; just for some time. And soon we will see that you are not your thoughts. Thoughts are like a sticky paper waiting to latch on, cling to your presence, become you and consume you. And they do, for almost all of us all the time. We are so associated with our thoughts, we seldom realize they are just like threads floating around in the ether space; infinite and random. Become a watcher of these thoughts by just observing them and they seem to pass by you as images on a movie screen.

I get into that space, sometimes in my meditations.. And yearn to be it all the time. But that yearning will again take it away form you. The more you relax, the more you are here in this moment and the more you realize it. Its amazing to notice how much we tense up, mentally and as a result in our bodies. But as we loosen the grip on our expectations, our obsessive thinking, and start observing more, we also begin relaxing more.. And enter a sacred space of the eternal...
Try it sometime :)
